Welcome to Volunteer and Leadership

Volunteer and Leadership is an inclusive school-sponsored program designed to promote service values, fundraising, and leadership opportunities to our student members. Our mission is to prepare students for higher learning and employment. Our value proposition is to introduce many jobs to students grades 6-16 through our member’s Digital Career Development Portfolio. Volunteering roles promote serving others while working directly in industries of interest. Once interest in a particular field is determined, V&L e-learns hone capabilities and deliver credentials that make it possible to engage in leadership roles with local businesses. We encourage independent study, work study and internships with our business partners. These actions bring employment leads.

Volunteer

Volunteer and Leadership helps students manage service events, creating volunteering roles that serve others. V&L makes serving a breeze. The event is planned, and students are invited to join. The day prior to the event, they receive a text reminder of the time and location for transportation to the event. Once the event is completed, the student summarizes their experience in an easy, task-driven format and submits! Hours are automatically calculated in the system for reporting.

Academics

Volunteer and Leadership delivers checklists with every event to ensure an enriched user experience. Built in functions are designed to develop Micro-Credential skills simply by using V&L. Students will also acquire skills outside the school core curriculum in our e-learn programs. Leadership and service activities reinforce skills learned through Micro-Credential achievements. Competencies like soft skills, career planning, financial literacy, project management, marketing and sales, budgeting and more are ultimately acquired in our e-learns and validated through our Micro-Credential program.

Leadership

Volunteer and Leadership events are led by student volunteers and approved by school adult leaders. For student leaders, the V&L platform provides checklists with step-by-step guidelines for the creation and coordination of events. This includes using soft skills to plan and receive approval for the event from an adult leader, gather a student planning team including marketing and transportation managers, and student participants. Once the event takes place, the system gives options, like event recurrence, making it easy to plan the next event.

Unite

More than 6 million high schools students move every two years; and the V&L connection moves with them providing instant belonging, consistency and connections the first day they step into a new school. V&L LINK connects transitioning students with like-minded kids and students familiar with their new school. By organizing study tables after school or providing one-on-one tutoring V&L will immediately aid the new student. Students carry their profile from one school to another and maintain connections with former classmates, business contacts, and teachers.

Employ

Skills acquired through e-learns and Volunteer and Leadership's Micro-Credential Program are mastered through our volunteer service opportunities, independent study, business internship and Co-oP business engagements. These skills and connections deliver students employment opportunities and leads within their chosen industries and career.
